Listed below are some of the options and prices but if you have any questions please contact us.
Complete Refurb
A bat that has taken a lot of use will begin to crack, fray, discolour and become very grubby. We can take such a bat, clean off the old scuff sheets, gluey residue, dirt, marks, repair the cracks to make sure they don’t worsen, change the stickers and grip, refurbish the toe and return you a bat that looks almost brand new, extending its life and giving you confidence in batting. The Complete Refurb is £65 and we will repair all of your bats issues, apply a new scuff sheet, grip and toe protection.
Bat Knocking
We will knock in your bat for £55 dedicating at least one week to your bat specifically with over 10,000 impacts with a mallet to make sure that it is completely game ready. Another option we offer is that when you buy a bat from us we will knock it in completely for £40 this is available as an option when you buy the bat online or you can simply inquire instore when you buy the bat.
Toe Repair
The toe is the most commonly damaged part of the bat, but we have various techniques to defend, repair and strengthen the damaged area.
For bats new and old, we use a special epoxy to create a waterproof and durable toe guard that will not fall off or peel, instead allowing for a strong edge that you can confidently rely on when running your bat in or jamming down on a yorker. However, we can apply a rubber toe guard for you if that is your specification. Complete, good-as-new toe repair costs £15 with your choice of epoxy finish or a toe guard.
Toe damage which results in splits cracking may require a number of different approaches. The area may need various treatments, binding, doweling and fibreglass tape applied, or a new piece of wood carefully cut and inserted. If you have any preferences tell us when you drop off the bat. Alternatively our experts will recommend what they think is best.
Cracks and Other Damage, Major and Minor
A cricket bat endures torsion through the force of the ball hitting a moving bat. The stress is mainly borne through the handle as it twists on impact. When this impact is off centre the bat experiences greater levels of torsion. The force is greatest with faster bowling or quicker bat speed. Repeated impact builds stress through the handle with the laminates moving excessively when the glue is compromised. This transfers down through the shoulder causing splitting and may result in the splice coming loose. As soon as hairline cracks appear, it is very important the handle is inspected and cracks repaired to prevent more serious or permanent damage.
Elsewhere, a bat can endure all kinds of crack, usually to the edges, but sometimes across the face or back of the bat. Within reason, we can apply our knowledge and workmanship to repair these cracks, often meaning the repaired area is the least likely place for the bat to crack again.
Cracks, shoulder repair and edge repair cost £35.
New Handle, Handle Repair and Handle Reshaping
A new handle can be cut and fitted for one that is broken by our experienced craftsman. This allows you to bring a favourite bat back from extinction. We also offer handle reshaping, handle rebinding and the fitting of new grips.
If a bat begins to split at the splice or at the rubber inserts within the handle for instance, it may be possible to repair and rebind the handle rather than fully replace it.
A new grip, supplied and fitted, costs £10. A handle replacement is £75 while a refit costs £50.
Weight Reduction or Rebalance
Sometimes when you pick up a bat. it just doesn’t feel quite right. A weight reduction or rebalance may be the perfect remedy for this situation. Here at Kraze we have the skills and the knowledge to alter the distribution and weight of a bat to a very precise degree. After carefully measurement and discussion, we can tailor your bat to suit you, giving you the option of testing it after primary weight reduction to decide whether you require more before we finish it.
Weight Reduction or Rebalance costs £55
Old or Broken Bat Recycling
Please do donate to us any old and broken bats you no longer want. Here at Kraze we require old bats for cutting up to create inserts for damaged bats so they are always gratefully received.
After Sales Service
A guarantee is honoured against the workmanship and materials, when the bat is used in a proper and responsible manner. Within the first season (this is normally a 3 month period) we will repair any reoccurring damage free of charge. Water damage to toes, new cracking or fresh problems will not be covered under warranty.
It should be noted that a bat does have a finite life, and even a very high quality bat will begin to deteriorate once it has been used for many seasons. The xylem in the cell walls eventually begins to break down, resulting in the face splintering and falling apart. Sometimes we can apply a solution to help with this, but sometimes it’s just time for a new bat!
